- Non-motorized water transport –
Montrealer Canoes (our environmental flagship)
You immediately see our traditional unique approach to ecological practice on arrival at the Quetico Park Nym Lake landing. We greet you with our “Montrealer” canoes – 32 and 36 foot long replicas of canoes used by the Voyageurs during the fur trade era. Students embark and paddle a short ½ miles (800 metres) to Voyageur Island on Nym Lake at the boundary of Quetico Park. This natural mode of transportation moves many people in a non-motorized manner. For efficiency we coordinate the arrival and departure of groups so that when one group is leaving, another is arriving.
